As featured in HERE Magazine Issue 21, the owners wanted the renovation “to be sympathetic to the original design,” while also ensuring the home felt warm, comfortable and child-friendly.

The owners commented that the renovations honoured the home through thoughtful attention to detail.

I had previously worked with this client on another property, and have since worked with them on their holiday home. This project was particularly special: a modernist gem with incredible views, practically untouched by the architect and original owner.

The brief grew as the project progressed, eventually extending to the entire home, with an addition added as the family expanded. USM from ECC was used throughout the home — era-appropriate, timeless and durable for a young family.

Furniture was sourced from New Zealand designers wherever possible. The red-stained unit in the main dining area was a bespoke piece, with the stain colour carefully developed and perfected over time.

This home is beautiful inside and out.
